Default Single turbo IS300 build

Took on this project with a certain direction that you usually don't see on IS300's due to the complexity that is required. The IS300 is a little shorter than the Supra therefore has front pipe clearance issues, AND the ECU is in the engine bay which really screws things up.

Mod list:

VVTI 2JZGTE motor
76MM billet DBB comp turbo
custom intake manifold
ebay exhaust manifold
custom downpipe/exhaust
ID1000 injectors
Titan Build Auto/3200 stall
AEMv2
Tial MVR BOV
Tial 38mm WG

So, first thing first...MOVE the ECU!!!! Not an easy task!

This required back-pulling all ECU related wiring through the loom, then back through the firewall. I was able to pull it far enough to make it to behind the center console. I crimped small connectors on the ends of wires, which I then soldered to the ECU connector. From here I have made a jumper harness using the factory ECU connector and part of the factory engine harness. On the other end I used SC300 connectors since they are easy to find.

The engine harness I used a modified SC300 harness. I added wires for the TT auto transmission, vvti, additional wires for igniter, and split out the CPS wires for separate cam and crank sensors for the turbo motor, and moved/added a few other sensor wires and/or changed connectors. The harness will then enter the car through the passenger side where the ECU will be sitting.

Relocated ABS.One problem I have encountered is the multiplex system. I may have to piggy back the factory ECU in order to get a few functions to work.

Here are the progress pics so far

Question how are you gonna get the car to shift the tranny? The stock throttle body is drive by wire and I see you have a aftermarket TB I think you might have problems

Running AEM, no problems with motor, or transmission.

Problems with car...yes, car communicates via multiplex system, so a lot of the sub systems may not work...I will work on that when I get to that point.

Hmm, still not sure why you think it will have shifting issues. I currently have a supra with an auto and an AEM, which is actually the 4th 2J/AEM powered car with AEM I have owned, and I have had a 1UZ v8 with auto powered by the same AEM, and never had problems shifting.

All you need it is a speed and throttle signal and you make your transmission do exactly what you want.

I am aware of that but how are you getting the signal w/o the sensors on the TB

The same sensor that tells the engine what the throttle voltage is, the TPS.

What sensor you talking about? There needs to be no other sensor besides the TPS.

Must be talking about the one right behind the throttle cable lever (which its a part of)..

With standalone he will not need it. Throttle cable position switch

It could be a square frame with wheels and it wouldn't have problems shifting. THe type of car it is in doesn't matter.

If people are having problems with the AEM, then they obviously don't know how to configure the AEM properly.
