Default Hit curb

Hey Guys

Hit a curb in the last snowfall........made a left turn accross a controlled intersection. Hit snow and slid into the curb. My steering wheel was cocked to the right. Went and got an alignment done. Results attatched......

Can tell something is off still in the front right. When rounding a corner when the load is on the right side there is a hum of some sort. Car drives pretty straight otherwise. They made a note saying caster is not adjustable.

Any ideas where to start or should I just take this thing in to see whats wrong still.

If nothing is bent and needs to be replaced, you can adjust caster by replacing the front lower control arm rear bushing. They come in 3 offsets to adjust caster.

That is, if that's what is causing your off caster, and not something else being bent from the curb hit.

Have you personally or had someone else check for other issues? Like a popped upper ball joint, bent tie rod, or bad bushings? Check this thread out for an idea on what MIGHT have happened to you too :

I've had the car checked out at Toyota Dealer. They recommended replacing the RF Lower Crotrol Arm and Bushing. Quote is for $765.00

Does that sound out of line? Was going to check how much parts cost.

Arm is about $300, bushing is about $65. Add in labour and an alignment; sales tax if applicable (and if included in the quote).

Sounds a tad high, but without knowing the exact labour rate in your area it would be hard to say. I would have expected closer to $600, but that's just a guess.

You can find a good, used one for MUCH less. Of course you'll want to get an alignment afterwards.

Hum noise could simply be the wheel bearing...just another thought.

^Good point, since the load is being transferred to that outter set of the wheels during cornering that wheel bearing could be showing signs of failure soon.

It's only under load but good chance it could be the bearing. Because the caster is so far off it's definitely the control arm (I believe). Hoping it's not the bearing also.

I had a humming sound after I hit the curb at 50mph. It was so bad it broke a chunk off my oem rim. Changed tire and rim plus alignment. Still had the humming sound. Went to Lexus and played dumb saying the sound just started on its own. Lexus changed the wheel bearing free under powertrain warranty lol. If the humming gets louder when you turn, its probably the wheel bearing.

Oh, I wasn't ******* on your useage of the word...I'm just trying to see if truly the wheel bearings are to be covered by Lexus! I just don't see them mentioned within any Lexus warranty coverage documents is all.

All I can tell you is I got them fixed for free and it fixed my humming noise and vibration. OP might wanna try that route if you still have warranty. But switch your curb rim to the other side just incase they suspect you damaged it yourself.
