Engine Rattle
So ive had the camgear rattle for sometime now, that i randomly hear from week to week, but now i am hearing a similar sound while im driving between 2000 and 4000 rpm during acceleration, not sure if its related but the sound is similar to the cam gear rattle just slightly louder. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

water pump idling and tensioner pulley, tensioner makes the most noise i gotta replace mine as well, **** dealership costs 400$ canadian dollars, aftermarket won't fit, dealer sells the whole assembly they won't sell pulley alone.
If you're talking about Tick and Tap noises, that's normal from direct injector that i heard from other members on here. go change your fluids. trans/diff cases and use Mobile 1 synthetic oil for smooth engine.

Hi, it may be premature for me to say this but I also have had the cam gear rattle on my 2008 IS250. Recently a coworker gave me a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil that he found in his garage. That stuff is pretty old school but during my last oil change I decided to throw it in. I wasn't expecting it to really do anything and just added it because I had it, but, coincidentally, I've noticed that my cam gear rattle has seem to disappear. It is usually worse during the fall and spring for me so time will tell if this is a real solution but so far I have a couple thousand miles and have not heard my cam gears rattle once. I'm going to be really shock if this fixes it as I have ran Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil since the car was new and have stuck to the 5k mile oil change interval but figure I have enough miles to recommend others give it a shot. Just for background info, my car has 115K miles on it.
Also, check your water pump... if it is occurring between 2-4k rpm then that might be the culprit.

Definitely not the heat shield, I am going to do an oil change weekend a determine if its coming from the cam gear. After that the next step will be to change the water pump.

So ive done the oil change and many miles later im not sure what the problem is, its hard to diagnose as the sound is only made while driving. So if i put the car in park and rev the engine, guess what, no noise. but once driving i will hear it only between 2k and about 4k rpm. Wouldn't the water pump and tensioners still make noise in park. Thinking cam gear now as this might be the cam gear clicking during the point when it tries to adjust the timing.
