I'm new to the site and just wondering if I could get some input from you guys. I've checked other threads but I'm not sure if it compares to the engine noise my car is making. The most common diagnosis is water pump from what I've read. I have a link of the video below. Please help!

Sounds like the water pump to me. You should also consider replacing your overflow tank's cap.

I see. Anything else that could potentially cause that knocking sound? I watched other waterpump noise videos and it sounds more like a grinding sound. The knocking sound is very loud during a cold start. Then it settles after a few minutes.

Off the top of my head? Not that I can think of, I doubt it's the idler/tensioner pulleys. If you have a long screwdriver, put the end of it on the pump and put your ear on the handle, you will hear that sound if it's the water pump.

Sounds like the early stages of the water pump going out. The WP bearing can get worse and sound more like grinding. But PLEASE don't let it get that bad.

To rule our a noisy belt squirt soapy water on it whilst running. Change should be immediate.

Thanks guys. I ordered a waterpump, idler pulley and serpentine belt. Hopefully this solves the problem.

Funny...Mine is making the same exact noise. I just got my new pump and belt too. I'm hoping for a warm enough weekend to knock it out.
