How to tighten the sun visor magnet works
#62
You are welcome, Hrabko. Funny story, out here in AZ it's common for ranchers to use "COW MAGNETS", a tube shaped mag about 3" long because cows eat pieces of metal like barbed wire, staples, nails, etc. You pry open the cow's mouth using a stick, throw the magnet in and let go, they swallow and those items stay put, preventing internal injury. So I was checking out at a grocery store and had a cow magnet, and the lady wanted to know what it was. I explained that you just maintain direct eye contact with them and aim the magnet at them, and you can lead them anywhere. She believed me and I almost lost control before I got to the parking lot. Shame on me. By the way, re cruise control, mine didn't work, so I unplugged it at the unit, inserted some electrolytic grease in the connector, and it works like a charm. Ninety eight cents, I think.

Visor droop: A fix
Common problem with older RX (and many other models, I am told) is that the visor doesn't stay up. Surely that's covered here but I could not find the thread.
I have a simple fix that works. I used two neodymium disk magnets. Slit the visor at the edge and coat one disk with glue and insert it in the slit, under the fabric. Glue the second magnet to the ceiling above where the first magnet should touch. Glue the slit shut.
Not especially pretty but works perfectly. Photo shows before the slit is glued.

I also find it annoying the driver side visor does not stay tightly up. It partially blocks my view. Every time I tried to find out the root cause, I gave up. Is it because it's thicker (remote control electronics inside) than passenger side, or is it because the spring holding it up is too weak? I don't remember how it was when it was brand new.

I don't know for sure but I think it's friction that holds it up and that with use, the joint loosens. That's why it's the driver side that gets sloppy. I saw something at one point about somehow getting some adhesive in there to tighten it up, and that is the next thing I was going to try if the magnets didn't work.

Simple visor droop fix with small magnets
I did a repair using magnets and it works perfectly. I used simple disk neodymium magnets (available many places, e.g. hardware or hobby store). Slit the visor at the edge and coat one disk with glue and insert it in the slit, under the fabric. Glue the second magnet to the ceiling above where the first magnet should touch. Glue the slit shut.
