2jzgte vvti what standalone ?????
So I picked up a 2jzgte vvti for my drift car and I am looking to go standalone the problem is I dont really know what standalone to use.
I looked at using a power fc d-jet for a jzx100 and build a patch harness for it or maybe even get a 1jzvvti harness for my motor to use the power fc with.
or
go with the AEM but I dont think there is a plug and play for the vvti motor and the cost is way more than the power fc is.
Any input is great thanks ahead of time

look into megasquirt actually as a piggy back for the stock ttecu (since it already supports CoP and all the goodies us ge guys don't have)

Choosing a standalone based on laziness (PNP) is a horrible idea. Seeing as the aristo vvti 2j has the ecu in the bay, you're going to have to significantly alter your harness almost to the point of constructing a new one.
What I would do is talk to the person I will get to tune my car, figure out what they like to use, then alter my harness to suit. simple, done.
megasquirt piggying the aristo ecu is a horrible idea for a drift car, only worth doing if the car is an obd2 vehicle or uses a can signal for cluster functions
While you're at it, ditch the drive by wire throttle body for a non drive by wire unit to save headaches/wiring/setup time.

Considering his car is a drift car it probably doesn't have that crap. Only thing the ecu controls on an sc chassis wise is a/c and fp ecu. Fp ecu is gay anyways and should be 12v bypassed in a performance app (IMO) and a/c is easy enough to deal with. These are not problems.
As for the op, I guarantee you'd have been happier with a competent tuner and aem v2. So much more

We'll PNP options are limited for the 2jz VVT-i. On the other hand, wire in standalones are the most available. Choices and prices vary on your budget. I cleaned up an aristo harness for a buddy that was going to run a Honda AEM Ecu P/N 30-6040 on his 2jz. But decided to part and sell the car. Only down fall is that you have to pin the aristo harness to the honda aem ecu connectors. His wiring was a bit more complicated due to the fact that the 240sx f3 body plug has some pins that needed to be merged with the aem connectors as the double 80 pin connector and 40 pin connector were eliminated. The harness was made for a daily driven car, so making functions like, MIL, A/C, and wiper motor functions to operate properly were a concern for the owner. For those that don't know which ecu it is, Its an obd1 ecu for a 92-95 civic/del sol. Oh, and its vvti compatible.

attached are some pics.... F9 and F7 are the wiper function connectors and merged together with F3 connector. The f3 connector is the body plug that connects by the passenger side kick panel. This is the "single 40 pin GTE connector" function on the 240sx body.
