Thumbs up Rain-X Glass Treatment/Water Repellent

I thought this might be useful for those who get a lot of rain on a daily basis. I never tried it myself since I don't get much rain in California. I mean $5 for a bottle of 16oz is a fairly good deal. They probably sell it at Walmart also, but i'm not really sure. If anyone has ever tried this product, how is it?

For the 3IS, it is great for the rear window. visibility in rain is much improved.

For the front, its not durable enough as you would still need to use wipers. There are no real solution for the front other than good set of wipers.

I recommend Jet Seal which is a paint sealant by Chemical Guys. It can be used on paint, windows, and anything else. First clay bar your windows good to remove any contaminants prior to applying any product.

The product is decent. I used to use it on my Audi, BMW and Porsche. (I live in Seattle).
You do need to reapply it about every 2-4 weeks or right after it snows. Snows kills it.

I used to be able to drive 45+ MPH without using my wipers in Light rain. It beads and comes right off.

I've used it for years and it's been great, you just have to apply it correctly. I live in South Florida where it rains like hell most of the year and I can drive through a storm without ever using my wipers. The water just beads off like it's being vacuumed. It's a good idea to use it on your rear windshield, since there are no wipers back there.

How long does it usually last, before you have to reapply it again?

At least a couple weeks depending on how much rain/snow your windshield takes on. Either way, it takes all of 5-10 minutes to apply, so reapplying isn't a big deal even if you had to do it every week. I would apply it once very thoroughly in circles until the entire windshield was hazy, then wipe it all down and it would last me over a month easily. Really good stuff. Worth trying out.

I'll definitely try it out, just bought a bottle not too long ago. Thanks for the advice

I use Carpro Reload. Any good sealant will do better than rainX.

But Rain X is cheap. So, bang for buck. It has to Rain X.

But all sealant and waxes usually wear off, so, wipers!
