Was researching the F Sport Performance Exhaust, which I was reading on another thread that is an axle back, and the JoeZ Exhaust Axle Back. Personally don't know what's the difference between a catback exhaust and an axle back exhaust. Would anyone be so kind as to explain the difference to me? Just looking for a decent growl, not too loud but not as quiet as the stock exhaust

 

Axle back is just the rear muffler piece. Catback is referring from the catalytic converters and back. That includes the mid pipe and y pipe. I have a few friends with just the axle back tanabe medalion exhaust and a axle back invidia q300. Honestly, you cant even tell the difference from stock. You need a full catback system to really tell. In terms of sound, if you just want a low key exhaust with no drone, id go with the f sport exhaust.

You should go for an Ark Exhaust. Has a nice growl to it. It's laso not too loud unless you really step on the gas.

It's a Catback.

 

ARK exhaust is way too loud for what he wants. Thats one of the loudest off the shelf exhaust systems out there for the 3is apart from Meisterschaft. If you want something like that custom hks exhaust, id honestly go with the f sport exhaust. It sounds pretty similar. Ive had the catback invidia q300 on my car and it was way louder than that hks exhaust. It was personally too quiet for me so i made a custom exhaust. Mostly straight pipe. Still retained mufflers though. If you really want to fine tune it to your personal preference, theres nothing better than just building one from scratch at your local muffler shop. Or go with the f sport if you dont want the hassle.

 

Plus one of my buddies with the ark exhaust said it drones so he sold it and bought the f sport exhaust. Ive been in the car with him with the f sport exhaust on and 0 drone but has a nice deep growl to it if you open the window a little bit

Drone is like this annoying buzzing sound when youre in a high gear around 2000rpm - 3000rpm. Not sure how to explain it well but its really annoying when youre cruising on the highway. It made me want to shoot myself when i had a 240 mile drive. But i guess thats the price you have to pay if you want a loud exhaust system. And sorry bro i dont have any clips of my custom exhaust. I parted out the car back in April due to some personal reasons but am starting to mod it again. Build V2 lol.

Just want my 2nd build to me simple and clean. The dealer *****ed about my last build about how it voids the warranty and stuff. Im lowering the car next week on factory spec blue f sport springs, f sport exhaust, f sport intake, and new wheels. Looking at either Rays G25, Advan GT, or TE37 in 18" I think ill just finish it off at that.

Does Joe Z have both an axle back and a catback offering? is there a video comparing them back 2 back? so many 2is videos on youtube but not as much at all for 3is...
