Default This happened today!!

This is the third time I've had this happen in the two years I've had the car. I also topped it off about 1,500 miles ago.

GS350?
That light looks very familiar. As discussed very often in this section, these cars will "consume" about 1qt of oil every 1k miles, especially for engines with 100k miles.

What oil do you run? Have you ever done a top engine clean? Your rings might have carbon buildup, a top engine clean will clean the top of the pistons.

Using synthetic oil will consume more oil

As I've said in a few threads, get acclimated to this light. Your car will continue to do this and Lexus will consider it "normal".

Really? Why is that? Does that mean we should use regular oil?

Also, would using the high mileage oil help with oil consumption?

Where did you get that info? I've used synthetic on most of my vehicles and I have not notice any noticeable oil consumption.

Synthetic oil is just slicker at all temperatures especially cold temperatures. They tend to fall through the cracks more easily. U can use them interchangeably. If you don't notice consumption then ur engine is still tight!

If you have looked underneath the engine and carefully examined the whole motor including valve cover gaskets, engine seals etc for leaks.

Then the next thing to check would be the exhaust and see if your burning that oil. If you're burning the oil then you may have carbon building up in the rings. If that the case you might get away with pouring seafoam directly into each spark plug hole, temporarily put back the spark plugs and let it sit over night. Then with compressed air blow out all the seafoam in the cylinders
