last night for a split second my oil light went on..... so when i got home I checked my oil and it was very low is this normal for the car to burn up the oil that fast or do i have a leak but ther are no signs of a leak ....I just changed my oil about 2 or 3 months ago
A couple of things:
1. You car may very well be burning oil. Mileage and worn components, but it seems rather excessive how much oil you've been losing. Some cars burn up to a quart between oil change normally (like Porsches), but on my GS4, I don't burn oil between changes (if I do, it's very minimal).
2. When you changed your oil, how full was the crankcase when you filled it up?

You said it was very low - how low was it? Maybe you didn't put enough oil in during the last change?
3k mi. since last change with 98k on the clock... it's certainly possible the car is using oil between changes.

bit, should I not stick to the 5k oil change mark and do it more often or just check monthly and if needed add oil or do an oil change every 3 or 4k miles? also is there something that i can do to stop this from happening?
