When I push the rear hatch close button the hatch closes. When I push the rear hatch close and lock button it rarely closes and locks and simply chimes and does nothing. Once in a while it will close, seemingly at random. What is amiss here?
On my Lexus App it indicates it's "Unable to Activate Remote". When I go to activate it on the App it provided instructions to verify with QR. When I am in the car trying to get the QR it quickly indicates it's connected and thus doesn't provide a QR code. As such I can't lock/unlock my doors from the App, or use other App features.
I just had that issue so looked manual. I think we have to move out of the way after pressing the "close and lock" button. I am going to try tomorrow if that works. I think manual is saying press "close and lock" button, when vehicle is beeping, move out of the way.
Please let me know how that works out as I've tried that as well. I'll try again today too.
I tried it, and it worked. I pressed "close and lock" button and moved away from the vehicle. It closed rear door and locked it. I don't know why Lexus included the condition of 'move away from vehicle' as mandatory.
I have never had this button not work for me unless something was in the way of the trunk fully closing which would mean the other regular just close button wouldn't work either. the key is almost always in my pocket and it has never presented an issue. the walk away thing makes sense but I am unsure what looks for you moving out of the way... maybe the kick hitch sensor under the bumper?
Per owner's manual, local dealership can customize the setting so that button will work without Walk-away. I would probably ask for that when I visit dealership. (Owner's manual page 108)

I wonder if there is a setting through a scan tool like carista. I have a number of things I can fool around with through carista and the OBD2 port that are not in the car's settings.
I tried walking away to the side. No change. I tried walking away further back. No change. I tried tossing the keys 4m to the side. No change.
I’ll be going for my 1 month/1600Km checkup shortly and will have them set it to work, and without walk away.

I've found that it requires the key be on your person. I've come home from Costco, opened the hatch, went in the house and dropped my keys before unloading and then couldn't lock the TX.
It would seem the walkaway feature works when you walk away to the left side only. Walking to the right or rear doesn't work. This was how it performed at the dealer when I asked about it. I was also told it wasn't configurable.

correct this is standard operating procedure for any vehicle with a "smart key" or "keyless entry". I haven't seen anything different on a car in like 8 years to be honest.
I’ve experienced the Same thing. I think th issue is that I’ll get home from shopping, open the lid and then carry some stuff in the house and toss my keys on the table, then go out and finishing unloading and when I go to use this function without the Smart Key on me, it fails. It seems to work if I have the key on me.

exactly. no modern car with this functionality is going to let you lock the car without the key on you. that button operates the same as the lock buttons on the door handles, they don't work without a key...
