Default Doors not locking automatically

Hey guys, new to this site. I just bought a new GS350. Are the doors suppose to lock when you walk away from the car? I noticed when I park in my garage and later return to retrieve items without the key the doors are still open.

they dont lock automatically (well, mine doesn't) you must push the little black button on the handle.

Thanks all for your help. I was hoping since it allows you to unlock the doors without pushing a button, that it would lock when you walked away. I just broke my hand and it is difficult to reach in pockets to pull remote out. Maybe they should make this an option...

Thanks again

You don't have to use the remote. There is a black button on the door handle. You can push that black button to lock the doors as safricags said.

The doors lock automatically only if you unlock the car but don't open the door within about 20 seconds...

There is a good reason why auto locking is disabled. Imaging you by accident leave the key in the car. As you may know it beeps in this case and refuses to lock when you press buttom on door handle. If you are walking away there is a good chance you wont hear the beep. As a result - key left in the unlocked car...

can we turn on this Auto Locking? The chance of me leaving the key in the car is much much less since I don't have to take my key out for anything.

But the chance of me not turning back to press the little black button is much much more likely.

So, when I walk away and forget to press the button the car should lock within xx mins?

And you know the car almost always check for the key, so it should know that the key is not within range and all doors is close.. so why not lock the door? U can try if you want, just give the key to someone else ask them to walk away while the car is still on, the car will almost instantly tell you that the key is not present.

Default locks

what happens if your battery is out? is there a manual way to open the doors?

I just got a 2006 GS300...love it but the lock thing is a puzzle to me..

I feel like if the key is in the car and the door opens, anyone can break in...

is there a way to stop that?
thanks!
