Default Creaking Front Suspension

I'm getting a strong creaking noise from the front end whenever I (gently) go over speed humps and bumps, which I do many times every day. I also get the creaking noise when I pop the hood and push down on the tower from above.

I've been riding on F-Sport springs with OEM struts for about 30k miles/2.5 years. I know that the springs aren't designed for the OEM struts and will cause them to fail eventually, and am wondering if this is what I'm hearing. I'm guessing that the struts are toast, but wondered if anyone had any other thoughts or ways I can check the struts to be sure.

Take it to any alignment shop and have them look at it, most tire shops do ths for free because they want the work.

Bushings are a major culprit of squeaking, especially after lowering.

Could be dampers, but I'd look at the bushings first.

I occasionally get this same noise when gently going over bumps and I am running completely stock, for what it's worth.

I have the same issue on my 08, lowered on RCA's but stock springs and struts. My indy guy says it is the strut bushings. He claims that they tend to do this in cold weather. He suggested we wait until spring before addressing. He thinks I may need to replace the struts if the noise persists when it warms up..

Just to follow-up, with several consecutive days of warm weather, the noise has disappeared.

For those who are interested, I did come across a TSIB that shows what to look for when judging whether shocks/struts need to be replaced. Judging by the illustration, mine look fine.

I'm bumping this because I am now experiencing the creaking.

Had both front upper control arms (includes bushings, arm, & the upper ball joint in the same assembly) replaced at Lexus under warranty. The noise is better, but I feel the strut mount (rubber) is the culprit.

I may spray some silicone on it to see if it quiets down.

Bumping this thread simply to contribute. I had this exact same problem. I replaced the ball joint and bushings in existing upper control arms myself and the problem still remained. Once I replaced my struts and mounts, problem solved. It was the strut mount making the noise.

My 2010 GS has 105K and the front suspension started to squeak at slow speeds over small bumps or in parking lots where the surface is not level. Per this forum, I lubed the front swayer bushings and the noise went away. After some rain followed by 100degree Dallas temperatures, the noise came back. I took to the dealer (I have the extended "platinum" warranty.. or so they say) and had the bushings replaced. No noise for now. I'll update if the noise comes back. Thanks to all that post!

Can someone circle or list what part # the strut mount or the bushing is in that diagram?

I, too, have recently noticed this issue on my '08 460. Like Go4MECO, it's when I'm driving on uneven parking lots on cold days. Typically I don't hear it going over big speed bumps or anything, just little bumps at slow speeds. Been really starting to tick me off. I know the vampires at Lexus will try to set me up with a whole new front suspension, so definitely going to attempt the bushing replacement myself.

Followup from exactly one year ago (totally not planned either)...

Turns out my creaking was from the front sway bar bushings. Apparently it's somewhat common with these cars. Popped them off, greased them up, and no more creaking noises.
