Default Time for New Struts and Springs?

Hello, I am guessing it is time for new struts and springs on my 92 LS. I am getting a creaking noise when I go over certain bumps and dips in the road from what sounds like the front. I looked these parts up on Sewel's website and they are expensive. Are there any aftermarket brands that will work without ruining the ride quality? Thanks

I would like to stay close to 500.00 or less. They do make more noise when it's cold but the noise is still there when warm.

I'm in Alabama and we have had some extremely cold temps recently. I started noticing the noise a few weeks ago.

Thanks

the OEM were made by KYB, so if you stay with them you will be close.
KYB rebranded the old GR2 line to the Excel-G.
ALSO: this from another posting....
Last weekend I pop the black rubber covering that covers the bolt on the two front suspension when you open the hood and tighten the bolts one on each side, and low and behold the clucking noise was totally gone, I notice my suspension is a little firmer but that annoying noise is gone.

Try lubing the front suspension bushings. My 90 LS creaked and groaned when I hit a speed bump and some lube eliminated the noise.

Got a complete set of KYBs off amazon for a little over $300 plus shipping. The sleves and isolators have to be ordered seperately tirerack sells them.

Bump on this thread. I had the same creaking that began occurring after the cold spell we had back here in PA in Feb/March and my car rides like a wagon, so I figure I'm due for new ones. I put KYB replacements on about 5 years ago and got about 70,000 miles out of them, so I'm a bit disappointed they didn't last longer, but from searching around most aftermarket struts are due for replacement around that mileage anyway. Question---when I replaced these 4.5 years ago, I installed new boots and mounts. I'm thinking that the chances are that those are still good and that I don't need to replace them again at this point. Thoughts?

Boots should still be good, either way when you dismantle then you will know real quick. I would think that the shocks would last longer than that though. Are you sure that they are gone?

I'm going to try a bit of tightening and lubing as mentioned up string, but my car rides like a wagon and seems to bottom out on the front end when going over dips and speed bumps. Yeah, I thought they'd last longer than that and the problems only seemed to emerge when the weather got cold.

Yes, I was thinking about that too, but those are for lowering the car as well right?

I have the same creaking noise from the front suspension of my '93 - going over speed bumps when the car is cold. Maybe a stupid question, but which bushes do I lube and with what - silicon spray ok?
