2015 IS250 F Sport front brakes making noise
Hey guys, I have a 2015 is250 F Sport with 18k miles and the front brakes are squealing when I come to a stop at slow speeds.
I drive fairly conservative, no hard braking.
The pads look like they have plenty of pad left, but I took it to a mechanic here in town and he said the pads and rotors need replaced.
Thought I'd come here for a second opinion.
Thanks!

I got the same answer on my '16 IS200t F-Sport. It only has a little over 12k on it and they said I need new pads and rotors. They're saying because it's an F-Sport, it bites harder and wears faster. I call BS. I'm going to grab a digital caliper and measure the thickness on the rotors. The pads are surprisingly cheap for an F-sport model.

You all want performance cars and you want them to outperform or match the level of BMW. There's always a price to pay for performance. It is true the F Sport brakes uses high friction pad. As a result, they wear faster. They are supposed to wear faster. And they will tend to make noise. My 200t at 4,000 miles just started squealing at times when coming to a stop. And I'm actually proud of it and like it. It's normal. All that needs to be done is the pads removed, caliper guides, backing plate of the pad, and caliper brackets cleaned and slightly lubed.
If you don't wash your car/power wash your brake hardware regularly, the problem will get worse/louder and faster. The dirt builds up and causes the pad to vibrate.

If you are all car guys, pull the wheels, the pad hardware, clean and relube. be on your way.
If you need new brakes, buy them yourselves online and replace them. Super easy and save money.
