DIY - Rear Axle Carrier (Knuckle) Bushing Replacement
Astro tool number 7897 on amazon. Worked like a charm with an air gun and hung ho. Did you try an air hammer? Us the chisel to budge it on the outside if you don't have the flat air hammer bit. If you have the flat but just us it and your 36mm socket
So I'm going to give it one more try tonight. The bushing and knuckle have been taking a soaking bath all day in a zip lock bag of PB Blaster. I also bought myself a deep socket, and 2' breaker bar.
I'll put my contraption back on, carefully making sure I'm not block the bushing anywhere, and go to town.
If that doesn't work, I'll move the car to a new DIY fully service garage that just opened up. It's called Jack Junkies. They have a proper bushing press set I can use for $10. If that doesn't work I can just pull the whole spindle and put it on their press bench.
The saga continues.....

Finally got mine in. Was a MAJOR hassle!! Almost gave up. I thought everyone else who had successfully done the swap was smoking crack until I realized why mine were so much more difficult.
Wait for it.....
Mine were rusted the whole way through the knuckles!!! I did the driver side first since it was the side squeaking. Created my own press tool (that was an adventure itself). Sheared my first 1/2" bolt while trying to remove old bushing. Got desparate, soaked bushing 24 hours in a cup of PB Blaster. After the bath of pb and replacing the sheared stud, I managed to push the bushings out.
PB Blaster has my business for life!! I can post pics of old bushings if anyone is interested in how bad they looked.
Also if anyone in the DFW area is contemplating doing this DIY, I will give you my tool I made if you want it. Sourcing the parts was a bit time consuming and required visiting 3 different stores for parts.

Ok, maybe I spoke too soon. My driver is making noises again, although not as bad as before. After some diagnosing, it looks to be the other bushing in the axle carrier, the one connected to the trac link (closer to the front of the car).
I've ordered some bushings from rhdjapan, the trd bushings. Figs has got some polys, but I'm not a fan of poly bushings. So when I get the TRDs I'll post up in a new thread, maybe do a diy using the same tool I made for the carrier bushing swap. Sorry Brian, have wait a bit longer on the tool.
Wish FIGS made the same carrier bushing for the trac link bush!!!!

Also those l-tuned bushes are the same ones that FIGS sells. Apparently he doesn't make a trac link bush like the carrier bush he sells. I finally got a response from rhdjapan about my order. Since the TRDs are considered OEM, it may take up to 2 weeks for them to even ship, and shipping could take a week to 10 days on top of that.
This squeaking is getting on my nerves!! To douse them in silicone lube requires lifting and removing the rear wheels. I'm feeling lazy. Probably just drive my speed3 until the bushes arrive.
