Lightbulb Need help ! Shacky suspension 2001 GS

It took only three weeks after the steering pump pretensioner adjustment request through Longo. It started to shack and make cranking noise today. I could not find the problem can
only hear it is there for sure. I craw down to check the suspension when I got back from work. A loose twist rubber cover was in the half way on the passenger side while the driver side is in its perfect condition. Then, I found out the lowe joint was loose so much that I can dubliccatenthe same noise by moving the joint back and forth by hand. What going on here ?

The GS needs suspension adjustment is for sure.
Question is --does it related to the previous Longo service or it just went loose by itself ?

I do not think I can drive the car on freeway. I need consultation and recoomendation before I sent the car to Longo
tomorrow morning !

Any ideas or better way to have it settle down quick ?

Joel

This one's easy. Call Longo and they'll do one of two things. One, they can send in a flatbed and get your car and leave a loaner for you. Two, they can send in their mobile mechanics. I don't think the problem you observed has something to do with the rack adjustment made previously.

Lightbulb Problem fixed --Back from Longo visit

He Whitetail & Will,

Eventhough the shaking and rocking of the front suspension came from lower joint, Longo did trace it to the loose sway bar
joint and fix it quick on Saturday morning visit w/o appointment.

I drove it in slower than local speed of 40 mph right before 8:00AM. I love this psrt of Longo service ! No charge and no question ask because my previous visit was only 3 weeks
away. Definitely, there was no paperwork at all !

From this experience, I started to ask myself the same question:
How did this happened to my GS and how can I prevent it from
happening again ? Does it related to most "sport car" suspension
?or just the part of the owning a Lexus-- adavantges ?
My GS needs a tender loving care now and then.

I do not think a car made from Toyota will need to tighten up its
sway bar joint in less than 2 years !! What do you guys think of that ?

joel...

glad everything went well....who was your servcie consultant? was it Veronne?

on the sway bar issue, we had this discussion before as some of the GS came out from the factory with the sways not tightened enough...hence the clonking noise...when i installed my trd sways with the help of pearlpower, i made sure everything was tightened correctly....

I also had a loose sway bar...but they had to get new brackets to fix it. 01 430 owner's beware...luckily we're still under warranty

hey guys,

Under what driving condition can you guys hear that noise due to the lose sway bars? I haven't put too much milage on my 2001 GS, therefore, I probably haven't reach that point yet.

I will definitly pay a little more attention from now on....

Roger,

When you go over bumps in the road or uneven road surface, you'll hear a rattle noise from the front of the car. I posted about this a while back, when I first got my car Not every car will have it, but it is a known issue and should it arise, have it taken care of as it will only get worse over time.
