Uhhh..."Service Bulletin" for GS suspension?
My dad took the GS in for its 10K service yesterday. My mom was complaining that the suspension was making a funny noise, so we took it for a drive around town and sure enough, the suspension sounded like a very rubbery whimper (sorry, don't know how else to explain it) whenever we went over a bump. Quite audible and annoying.
The dealer said this was a known problem and a service bulletin was issued (I guess that's a fancy way of saying the problem is a few notches below recall status). Turns out that with some GSs the seats of the suspension coils were not installed properly.
Anyway, it was fixed under warranty and the car is back at 110% now. It seems a little odd that the car has been in production for nearly 6 years and problems like this still crop up. Oh well, not a terribly huge deal.
Our GS is a MY '02, and I'm not sure what models and years the bulletin is effective for. So if your GS is under warranty and you hear funny noises from the suspension, be sure to holla at your local Lexus store.
