Im doing the rear brakes on my is350 because I am going to vegas tomorrow. About 2 weeks ago at lexus I was told I had about or a little more than 5% left so I decided to change them. I have everything off but the pesky braket on my rear brakes is all of about welded in place I can get the rotor on and the pads in, I just cant get the two to meet because this bar is putting the caliper in a weird spot and I cant for the life of me get this thing to move.
I have 70k on the car and the rear brakes havent been done in the 38k I have put on the car.
Here are some pictures of the piece I cant seem to figure out how to move.
Your caliper is seized. Your best bet to fix that would be mounting the caliper back on the car without the rotor, then get a wrench that fits the bolt behind the caliper next to the brake bleed valve. Remove the bolt with some force then take apart the caliper slide pins and clean them polish them with metal polish and re-grease them. Then re-assemble.
yeah sounds like a seized caliper to me too. mine was unfixable because the rubber boot around the pin was torn so water got it and rusted the crap out of it and i couldnt slide the caliper off not matter how much i tried.. so i bought a new caliper.you can try xhydra's option but if yours was anything like mine then your gonna HAVE to buy a new one. yeah i duno how u managed to get the pads in right with the piston decompressed like that.
