Default Installing Supra TT Calipers.

I'm picking up a set of supra TT brakes.... Is it plug and play? What would i need?

And yes... For those of you say use "search" I have, but some people say i need to sand down a bolt... install a RCA... and other people say it's plug and play....

I want to know the people that do have the calipers and how did they install it...

its a PNP thing.

2 ways.

1). bend the dust shield till the calipers bolt on.

2). remove the dust shield n bolt on.

Thats pretty much it

edit:

what you need.. on top of my head

17mm to remove caliper bolts
14mm to remove brake line bolt.

From everything I've read, the Supra TT's are plug and play other than the dust shield like was said, it's the LS400's that require an RCA or shaving.

Hmm, looks good. Did you paint it?
and... What else would you need? The brake liner? or can you use our oem ones? is 300 a good price?

BTW, can you tell the difference between this one and the OEMs? like go and going....

Nice work! Question, I know that the Supra calipers are heavier than the LS400 but are they heavier than the stock GS brakes also? Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the supra rotors a little larger than the LS400 rotors also?

This is what I gather from both setups:

Supra brakes

PROS

Plug 'n' play setup
Larger rotors
More variety of aftermarket rotors
More variety of aftermarket brake pads
4 pot calipers (moved from cons)

CONS

heavy calipers
more expensive setup
require 17" or larger wheel
___________________________________________________

LS400 brakes

PROS

2 pot calipers
lightweight aluminum calipers
less expensive setup
requires 16" or larger wheel

CONS

requires RCA or shaving/rolling of fenders and tie rod ends
smaller rotors
not many aftermarket brake pads available

Is this right? Kind of sucks because it looks like a draw...pros and cons of each. In any event EITHER ONE is MUCH better than stock!

From what I remember, stock GS calipers and Supra calipers weigh almost the same. The main difference is that the supra caliper is 4 pistons and the stock GS is 2 pistons. Also the supra rotors are a little bit bigger, which is why you have to remove the dust shield to fit them in. Aside from that, they should bolt right in. You won't need to replace the stock GS brake lines either if installing the supra brakes, but it won't hurt to buy some steel braided lines.

How much difference over OE are we talking about? I just put my wheels on and I feel like my stopping distance is now much greater.

So I am contemplating an early Big Brake Kit for my supra so I can get the regular brakes onto the GS to help.

From what I've gathered and rock mentioned in his post the Supras need 17's, the LS400's will work with stock 16's and a 15mm spacer. Just make sure there aren't any balancing weights on the part of the wheel that will need to clear the brakes. I found that out the hard way when I test fitted the other day.

from larger rotors + Surface area + 2 additional pistons pushing at better braking pads.. ide say its a lot better. especially at high speeds :]

Another good alternative for wheel setup is to get a set of G35 18" wheels. That's what I use on my GS400 with Supra TT brakes for winter.
