Which Brakes?
I am toying with the idea of getting new brakes for my 2001 GS430. "Baer" doesn't make them for Lexus yet, so I was looking at "L-Sportline", "Brembo" or even "Rod Millen, which do u guys recommend?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Either AP Racing or Brembo. StopTech also might make an application.
Baer, for whatever stupid reason, don't make kits for any Toyotas...but they make them for Hondas....go figure...how many 16 year old kids with $10K Hondas buys $2K brake kits?
Hell, how many of them buy $1K brake kits? Most think $49.99 "brake rotor hubcaps" from PepBoys are overpriced!

Well considering we drive $56K cars (in the case of the GS430 anyways), I don't think $2K-$3K is a lot for SERIOUS brakes...you have to pay to play....
Anyways....the lowest priced setup is going to be the Supra TT setup from Steve Ganz (800-90-TOYOTA). It's the same setup as the Rod Millen except for the rotors (RM's are slotted) and the little name tag...well under $1000...if you can't afford that, stop modding your Lexus and pick a new hobby, like collecting dirt clods or something...
You could even call up Rod Millen and see if they'll just sell you the rotors (I'm sure they do) and then combine that with just the calipers and steel braided lines from Steve Ganz and you basically have the same setup...(plus you can pick which brake pads you want to go with...Hawk, EBC, etc..)
