I just got new tires installed and the installer told me that my struts (front)are leaking. I have 66K on the clock...is this normal to fail at this time? I don't drive myis250 hard at all. it's not under warranty so I need to replace it out of pocket. has anyone replaced theirs yet. If so, what did you replace it with. I want to know what are my options.

Just cuz it's a pet peeve of mine...they're shocks, the 2IS doesn't use struts.
But, really, that depends how much they're leaking... if you do a search I believe Lance once posted a graphic from TIS showing how much leaking was considered time-to-replace for the 2IS shocks.
if your not lowered and have no interest in lowering your car, then just get the OEM shocks replaced and call it a day.
OTHERWISE - if you DO want to lower your car I would recomend going with coilovers. Cost you about the same as F-Sport Springs/Shocks, but you have dampening adjustability and ride height adjustment.
Coilovers for sure, that is, if you have interest in lowering the car, otherwise as said just get the OE shocks
You can just get 4 replacement aftermarket dampers (Koni, Eibach), or you could go with a full coilover system.
Either one is a good choice.
We can get you whatever you need
I don't see any Lexus applications on Koni's website. If they have shocks for the 2IS, please verify it! I've been waiting a long time for adjustable Koni's!
MSRP on OEM is $236.21 each. Internet retailers sell for ~$200.00 each. Here's the info on replacing the shocks according to Lexus:
thank you all for your reply.
sorry, it's shocks....the guy I was talking to kept telling me struts....but whatever.
the car is not lowered... probably going to keep it stock height.
the guy doing my tire said that koni offers for half the price of oe.
so I may go that route...but unsure of the ride quality. is it the same of
oe?
also, lobuxracer..thanks for the info. very helpful. i will try to get under the car when i have time this weekend.
