Default Cutting Holes for Upper Control Arm????????

I have seen and read about people cutting holes for their upper control arms . I searched the forums and I have not seen a lot of information dedicated to this.

I know a lot of other members are looking to do this mod, including myself.

For anyone that has done this mod, can you please write about your experiences and post your pictures.

Anything from what to do, what to avoid, what to use, etc.

Any information will be greatly appreciated!

When you slam the hell out of your car the upper control arm will hit the top of the shock tower. Cutting a hole in the shock tower will allow for the control arm to travel up further. I've seen some people do it by cutting a 1.5" or 2" square and then weld a steel box cover over the top. Of course you will have to repaint the shock tower area after the custom work.

Cutting holes for the Upper Control Arm, not to the arms. Some members have their cars dropped pretty low and when we hit bumps on the road, the upper control arm hits the top making a loud "bang" noise.

In order to eliminate the noise, members have cut holes for clearance. I hope I made sense.

it usually makes my CDs skip too. maybe its just me though.

Also, if you run the splash shields, nothing should really be getting in to you engine bay.

LOL...how low do you guys want it? WOW! I'd put some marker on the top of the control arm rather than wait for it to make indentation.

if you look in the wheel well, drill a small pilot hole up from where you see some contacts

Check out that thread. I don't know why people are hating on this. It's a must if your car is slammed. And if you don't know understand what's going on, your car is probably too high.

It is actually a low rider trick from old school hydralic cars and trucks. Mainly they are domestics not Honda's.

I know. Honda's seem to get a bad rap for all so called questionable mods or mods that other people don't like. Not sure why since practically every single mod out there have "Been there, done that" by the old school modders of past years. I mean, technology has changed, but the theories and tricks are mostly the same.

lol @ benetton engine bay, nice custom work though on them towers

my car isnt real low but it looks low, and doesnt hit much so im not going to bother. but as the pics above, thats how it should really be done so it retains the strength of the area rather than just a hole
