Suspension Question
Hey fellow CL members, I recently purchased the Teins Super Street and I was curious to know does anybody have pictures on how to remove the rear struts? I've searched throughout and have'nt found anything, any help will greatly be appreciated.

- raise the car up
- remove wheel
- mark suspension bolt location, this is the outer one which has an offset washer which is used to do "camber alignments". you are marking it to put it back in the relative spot (get an alignment done after uve installed the coilovers)
- remove top strut bolts from inside the trunk, u have to pull the liner back to get at them, should be 12mm or 14mm (cant remember, most likely 12mm though)
- remove 2 bolts that hold the upper mounts on the rear strut, it holds and aligns the top part of the strut to the body from the fender well.
- remove nut that holds the sway bar end link to the lower control arm
- if u have auto levelling hids headlights, then u may want to remove and unbolt the auto leveling control mechanism. should be on the driver side front and rear arms.
- while supporting the control arm, remove the camber bolt. one side is like 17 or 21, and respective nut on other side of the arm is like a 23 (if i remember right)
- remove bolt that holds the shock in place to the lower control arm.
- the lower control arm should be pivoting from only 1 point now, the inner most bolt that connects it to the frame, so now u should be able to swing the arm down completely to remove the strut down.
- the rest is pretty simple, to be on the safe side, use a spring compressor. u need to, unless u bought a new upper strut mount, transfer over the upper strut mount. mark the location of the upper mount relative to the strut so that all the bolts align right.
i found the rears a lot easier than the fronts, less brake lines, and other bolts to worry about.
good luck, hope i didnt forget any steps.

Does anyone know if we need a spring compressor for sure, for installing Tein SS on a 2001 Lexus GS300? We will be installing tom. night if anyone can help ASAP. Thanks....

I was thinking the same thing, so I won't need to compress the springs in order to remove the upper strut mounts to take off and apply to the tein ss coilovers?

ok i have another question...the instruction manual says i need one of these
the manual says that it comes with it but I looked up and down the box and each coilover and I didnt see anything that resembled the C Rings, does the stock struts have them and if they do can I use them, and if not can I go out to autozone and pick some up?
