****Help for 98 gs400 Rookie DYI'R
Guy's I posted before that I have a 98 GS400 baught with after market coilovers (unknown brand yet) and springs(unknown brand yet) I noticed when I bought the car I had a double rise popping noise on acceleration and a clunk metal on metal noise when I would reverse put into drive and turn forward to the left. Lexus dealer looked into and said it was "Lower Ball Joints" . So needless to say 580.00 later I still have the same issue and a steering wheel shake / vibration at 60-65mph. What I am asking is for threads and DYI for all this front end stucff I should look for and into and how to so I can not only learn for myself but save $$$. If there is also anyone in the Rockford, IL area that may be of help to that would work too. Please all your help will be GREATLY appreciated!!

2 suggestions: Daizen Poly steering rack bushings from Sewell Lexus (check the rack pre-load after installation), and on car wheel balancing like this- http://www.butlertire.com/services.asp The dealer likely has Hunter Road Force wheel balancers, which might help, but on car balancing makes more of a difference.

Clunking when going into reverse is the brake pad shims. They are less than 50 at the dealer. Next time you do pads, swap those out as well.
Get steering rack bushings, and search here for the DIY. They cost around $40, and are easy to put in, even on the street.
Balljoints are cheap too, and next time you should do them yourself. Also a fairly easy thing.
Balance all of your tires.
Get Daizen control arm bushings and at least do the castor arms.
After all that, get your wheel allignment done.

I really appreciate your input and ideas. Do you know reputable places around Rockford, IL to buy these parts? seeing I am new to the Club. Can you tell me how to find DYI of all front end dissasembly for these areasand maybe more? Btw the Lower Ball joints have been replaced as of last month by Lexus. Once I get into the dissasembly I will take photos for any possible eye shot of problems you might see.
