Default '98 GS400 Tilt fix? Help?

Hey all,

98 GS400 with 120k miles. The steering wheel telescopes but doesn't tilt. Is there a cheaper fix?

I'm not sure if it's the motor or not, but there isn't a clicking sound when I try to Tilt...

Would the fix mentioned in post 12 work? Or you all think it'd be a waste of time?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice?

or is there a way I can adjust the tilt manually? I only really want to move it up about half an inch or an inch and then i wouldn't have to bother even trying to fix it.

This happened to me when I first got my car. It was really frustrating and annoying. Post 12 does work.

Just take everything apart and regrease it. The old grease gets dry and hardens, stopping the gears from turning.

No problem. I remember how angry I was when mine wouldn't work in the morning. I don't have any pictures, but once you take things apart you should figure it out. You'll probably be upside down for a long time so don't pass out. There are two motors: an up/down and in/out one. Just make sure you can put things back together once you take it apart. Maybe you can take pictures so you don't forget.
