Default Ride Quality?

I have a 1999 GS300. It's all stock right now. 16" rims, stock suspension. I like the ride quality. I'm thinking about lowering it using Tein CS coilovers and fitting the car with 20" Maya wheels ( not sure which design). I'm not to concered about handling. How would the ride be with these mods. Any info would be cool.

Thanks J

imho it will still very very comforting. you get more road noise, and you get some "boom boom" sound from the rim going over uneven road. but the body of the car doesn't really take up much of the harshness. the cs is pretty soft

tha'ts just my feel though, granted i am ok with stiffer rides

well with dropping the car...expect more road feel, noise, etc...but imo with a 0-1 finger gap drop...the car not only handles soo much better..but its looks much better..and with the 20" rims..you definitely need the drop...if not the car is going to look like a 4 x 4....same as with going with 20" rims...your definitely going to get low profile tires...so the ride quality will decrease a lot! but i will trade looks for a little bit of ride quality anyday!

now i can imagine...if you go with a 19 fat setup you will prolly get a better ride....but then again 20s fit soo perfectly...to be honest...if the roads werent really bad as it is in hawaii...I would definitely do 20s...no question....and as far as the suspension goes...rominl is right...the cs is on the soft side. good luck bro!

It won't be stock. No amount of coilover softness can overcome the loss of rubber sidewall and increased sidewall sitffness. Some of the specifics are already mentioned in the above posts.

If you are looking for the stock ride, nothing will be as good as the 16s. Even going to 17s, you will already feel the difference.

I've not ridden in a car with a 19s fat setup, but when I had 18s (same amount of rubber as 19s fat) and the CS, the ride was still very nice 95% of the time. When I went to 20s, the change was pretty noticeable. I'm OK with it though. You should try to hook up with local members for a test ride to see if you'd be OK with it.

As Neo commented.

I had been riding on Bilsetein and EIbach and the combo was very comfortable with stock wheels, about 95% of factory. I just put 18's on and the additional weight and stiffer sidewall made the ride obviously different. One trade for another.
