Default Considering selling my 94 LS

So I just bought a 1994 LS about two months ago, and I'm thinking about selling it already. Mainly because the heater core needs to be replaced, and the timing belt needs to be done on it. I'm replacing the valve cover gasket and tube seals on it tomorrow. I've already replaced the front pads and rotors, pcv valve and grommet, coolant temp sensor, and did a coolant flush. I'm just not sure if I want to do a DIY timing belt and heater core change as those are both very hard things to do. I am capable of doing them since I'm still young (age 22). I'm in love with Lexus cars and if I sell this one I'd likely buy another with less maintenance needed to be done. I bought the car for $2000, so I'd like to sell it for at least $2500 with all the work I've put in so far. What do you guys think?

I think you overpaid to start with and will lose if you sell... young as you are, just do it and enjoy driving the finished product...

I think I paid about "average" price for the car. Not a good deal, but not a bad one. The exterior is in good shape with no rust or major dents, and the paint isn't faded. It came with 5 chrome LS430 wheels which are worth anywhere from 150-300 per wheel on ebay. In addition it came with the original chrome wheels, which are in bad shape unfortunately. Overall, I don't regret the purchase. If I can find a service repair manual for cheap, then I might be more motivated to work on the timing belt and heater core, but without the manual I'm really not interested in giving those things a go.

See #6 on LexLS's Repair Manual section. You can pay $15 online and get all of the service manual files for your 1993. I did the same for my 1991, and it was well worth the purchase.

Overpaid? Im not sure how you can figure that without having any real info on the vehicle. If its in good shape then 2k is a fair price.

OP- you didnt pay too much so what have you really got to lose. I say go for it. Fix it and enjoy it. They are awesome cars.

with a heater core leak I think you overpaid... I have done mechanical work for 65 of my 83 years.. and timing belt is a piece of cake, but that heater core even scares me
I put one in a thunderbird once and it took more than a day to get it back together and working. of course I'm 240, big arms and hands and dont do good in small places this photo is today at 83+

How does the timing belt look? The 1st gen is a non-interference engine, I plan on leaving my belt for a while since the belt looks in great shape

I hear ya. I honestly might just leave the heater core alone and drive the car only in the summer. I disconnected the heater control valve and manually turned it closed. Someone else on the forums here successfully changed their heater core on a LS. I certainly wont be doing it this summer, but I might tackle it eventually.

It doesn't look too great. It has cracking all along it similar to this picture. This pic isn't mine, but this is about how it looks. I probably won't touch it until I hit 200K.
