Default 2017 IS - need power source.

Just brought a 2017 is200t f-sport. I'm trying to install a dash cam. Is there any power outlet besides the two USB plugs in the center console? My dash cam has a cig lighter adapter and I can't find any cig lighter outlet in this car.

In the glove box I believe or in the center console. You could hard wire to mirror I believe.

you can't . You either buy an adapter for USB port or buy a new dashcam comes with USB

thanks for the info. i found the 12v outlet inside the center console but looks like its going to be difficult to run wires.
I removed the passenger lower dash cover and found an open connector in the kick well area. I dont have my multimeter right now so can not check for voltage so just wanted to see
if anyone knows what that connector is for.

Instead of running the wire down to the console, some have wired their dash cams directly to the rear view mirror, as it has a power supply.

I believe this thread shows how to tap into the rear view mirror's power:

Searching the 3rd gen thread may offer more results. Happy driving.
^^ +1...Just hardwire it to the mirror connector...it's literally right there. I think the thread above shows you how to install a USB port/connector if I'm not mistaken, but others have just tapped the dashcam power and ground onto the mirror power and ground directly.

Go directly in the fuse box with some low profile mini add-a-fuse.

nvm, i figured it out. cover slides down. I'll attempt to tap into mirror connector. Is the wiring the same for the 2017 IS? If not anyone have the correct wiring diagram?

I literally just did this today, I hardwired it to the fuse box. I thought about tapping into the mirror but I already had the hardwire kit so didn't want to waste it, and like you I wasn't sure if anything changed for 2017 with the wiring for the mirror.

The mirror looks to be wired the same from 2014 to 2017...here is a pic I posted for another member looking to hardwire a dash cam...or was it radar detector...doesn't matter, there's and Ignition wire and a Ground wire.

I'm running VIFO A119 dash cam with 10ft USB cable with a right angle mini usb connector. I ran the cable above the roof liner and down the passenger A pillar. Ran the cable behind the glove box and down the side of the center console. I removed the center console arm trim (where the joystick is at) to pull the cable through and removed the center console box and notched a corner of it to expose the usb cable. I used a low profile belkin two port usb cig adapter and connected my dash cam. I have the other usb port to my phone's lightning cable for phone. I personally don't use the car's usb to charge (charge too slow) or connect my phone. Only reason I did all this is so I can unplug the power to the dash cam on demand and have a usb connection for a laptop when ever I need to pull video. Not all laptops have micro sd card reader so it's easier to find a laptop with USB. Maybe this can help you guys. I'll try to get pictures later.

BTW, there is a 12v cig port in your center glove box, look harder

is200turbo, what brand and model dashcam did you get? Just curious. This is something I eventually want to do, too. Maybe in the front and back. Thanks,
