Default Completed GS F Sport Pedal Mod

Following in comotiger's footsteps, I just completed the installation of the metal pedals from a 2016 GS F Sport. I chose these pedals because I prefer the straight rubber inserts vs the polka dot inserts on the LS F Sport pedals and the GS pedals prior to 2016. Ordered the set online from www.mylparts.com, which is an awesome site by the way, great replacement for Sewell. Anyways, cost was $152.32 shipped. Had them in my door in suburban Maryland from CA in about 4 days.

Part numbers:

Gas pedal: 78101-30061
Brake pedal: 47121-24010

As comotiger discovered the base of the gas pedal will not fit into the holes in the LS's floorboard, the bolt holes are too far apart. What you have to do is turn the pedal over and release a small latch, and the pedal will slide right out of the base. Once you have removed your original plastic pedal you can do the same, and slide the metal pedal into your existing plastic base.

The job is easy. You take a small flathead screwdriver and pop the cover off the base of the pedal. There are two bolts holding the pedal to the floor, you'll need a socket set. Unbolt those, and the pedal comes right out, and slides off the pedal assembly at the top towards the center console. New one goes in the same way, slide the pedal assembly into the slot behind the pedal, and bolt it to the floor. Replace the cover piece and you are all done.

The brake pedal is the hard one. Removing the existing pedal cover is easy, and that pedal cover is easy to install because its flexible. The metal pedal however it rigid, and it is a total ****** to get on there. Best way to go about it is to slide it onto the metal pedal back from the dead pedal side to the accelerator pedal side. Issue you will have is getting the rubber gasket around the end of the pedal back on that accelerator pedal side. I tried to pry it on with a screwdriver and finally I just put all my weight against it and slipped it over the edge. Hands are pretty beat up but its on there. Clean everything up, reinstall your floormat and you are all done.

Job took about 25 minutes, I'd definitely tackle it again. Going to leave the dead pedal alone for right now. Great little mod for $150, the metal pedals look much more befitting of a car of this caliber.

Looks awesome, Steve. I followed your lead on getting Lloyd Luxe floor mats with the metal Lexus logos seen in your pics above. You have returned the favor by doing the pedal mod. I didn't know the brake pedal cover was a b***h to swap since my indy shop did all the work for me. Glad to know it worked out though, maybe you could have put a tiny amount of dish soap or vaseline on the cover's underside to lubricate things.

Your instructions are clear. I thought it might help to have the pictures to go with them. For anyone interested, here is the link to those pics.

Here are pictures of my car's pedals. If anyone is interested in doing the dead pedal mod also, here's the link for that.

Agreed its an awesome low cost mod.
Steve, I had totally forgotten that you did the logo plate on your carpet and the combination of the pedals and plate look OEM and compliment each other in a great way.
I cant recall, you did start a thread for that mod, correct?
And yes, the dead pedal brings everything together-very befitting for the '13+ LS.

Looks good, and I like the Luxe mats. If I didn't already have the lasercut WeatherTech mats (or kids :P) I'd definitely go that route.

Lol!!
I see Steve likes to be a bit low key with his mods and just creates a thread, though the plan had been in the works all along!
Who knows... we may see Steve pop up with 24"s and tv's in the head rest next!!
