What car are you talking about? Is it an IS350?

Default FOB issues with SC430

Sorry .. was talking about the SC430 -it unlocks the car but does not lock it nor auto start or any of the other functions. It did fine before taking into the shop where they disconnected the battery …. No idea why it is not working any longer

FOB problem mostly causes by weak battery. Sometimes heat can cause it not to work properly. Don’t know about remote start.

You must have some aftermarket device. Our Key/FOB never opened the roof or auto started the car.

If it used to have a remote start, then you have an aftermarket system.

Did the Convertible top lower from the FOB also?

The factory FOB has a problem with sunlight and heat effecting the remote range. I also think heat effects the Lock Actuator Motor.

If you feel the system is working normally and the lock is just not working, you can google "clublexus.com sc430 lock actuator"

Default Fob not working

Great stuff all. I do not have a aftermarket that I am aware of, I purchased used and only know of the sunroof as I accidentally did it once After just getting windows tinted I hit something on the fob and windows started down, will check battery replacement and the heat. It has been really hot here in SC.

:-) Well. I assure you that "We" are all confused. The SC430 is a hard top convertible of course. It does NOT have a sun roof. The OEM fob will only unlock the doors, AND roll the windows up/down if you hold the open button for a few seconds. The OEM system NEVER provided remote start, or remote top up/down. FWIW. If you had remote start, it is an aftermarket system. The heat issue usually rears it's ugly head when one of the doors is pointed directly at the suns direction which of course changes as the day goes by. I imagine the inside of the door on a hot day can get in excess of 140 degrees easily. After market security systems, i.e. the FOB, we can be of almost no help unless you can specify which manufacturer the system came from. Then maybe someone will have some useful info. Good luck. Welcome to the forum.

Does it sound like he has a LUXLINK system? Anyone know how to reset it, or point him to the creator in CA?

The only after market system which will remotely start the car that I know of is the LuxLink. Although, I don’t know that it will low or raise the top.

Few of us have LuxLink, they can offer more infos.

My remote stopped working and suspect it is the battery in the remote, it is a CR1616 fyi, ordered a few from mazon. Suggest you keep these handy. You will never know when they go out and it is a hassle if you do not have spare batteries. $5 for 6 pcs. Good investment. I think it makes sense to replace it every 2 or 3 years, regardless of use, good insurance you will not be grounded.
