Default educate Me!!!!!!!!

Every time I search for something I know is on this site I find I cannot find ANYTHING so I ask and some AH tells me I should search first. I always wionder if he/she has ever tried the search function.
I know there are several threads on solving battery drain so I searched for "battery drain" And I got thousands of results, most of which had NOTHING to do with battery drain.
I Know there are some functions, like automatic lights that will cut the drain but searching this forum doesnt seem to be the way to find them
\
SOMEONE educate me, what am I doing wrong in my searching!!!!!

Best I can do.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...430-forum.html

That is the link to the "Sticky" post above the individual subject post. I'm REALLY not trying to be snarky here because there is a lot of info here and unless you know how to drill down, you get info from half the Lexus models available. So, scroll up on the home page to the stickies. Lots of great info there as well as tips like advanced search tips. Good luck.

EDIT Paul’s link by Darryl covers pretty much the same thing as mine below

Step 1 Click the little search in the blue menu bar and select advanced search

step 2 put battery drain in the keyword and

step 3 select drop down for search in titles (I usually start with this)

step 4 select the sc430 forum ONLY

step 5 click search now button

step 5 PROFIT

Thanks, that search button was not the one I was using. I was using the one at the top right of this page that has a magnifying glass and the word "Threads" It is useless to find anything.

Always check the stickies. The are important information that’s always there for you to explore. Thanks to members have dedicated their time and effort to create them and also thanks to DD who has created the sticky for advance search.

I checked the stikkies and didnt find what I was looking for, but that "new" to me search button did a good job.
I wonder why that other "search" button is there. It is prominent and draws you to it even though it doesnt really work well. It should be removed.

Disagree. It’s the exact same search link, you just never clicked on the advanced part below the ‘threads’ search drop down to select the sc430 forum to narrow your search. Or used the one within the sc430 forum as described in the sc430 sticky in how to search DD wrote that was linked above. That one automatically does that narrowing for you.

while it wasn’t useful for you here in this case, a global search is often very useful when looking for specific topics and keywords across models.

Regardless, you now know better how to search and find your answers for your specific model!

@jimisbell ,
I like the fact that Dave has the system indexed by google. I find it easier to go to Google and search "ClubLexus.com SC430 <whatever I am searching for>" This brings up the link I can just click on in the google results.

Default I guess i am stupid

I just dont get it on how to use this search function.
I am trying to find a picture of a cold air intake installation on an SC430. Simple right, just go to the search function, either on the upper right or in the blue ribbon across the middle and type in "Cold Air" while you are IN the SC 430 section.

NO, that does not work. In both cases the first one on the list is "What did you do to your GS today" And scrolling down gets NOTHING related to a cold air intake!!!!! Its not even searching the SC list!!!!

I have had it explained to me how to use this function, but it never works like the teacher says.
NOW I would like to see someone actually do it. Maybe then my dense brain can figure it out.

Merged with your other thread on search. Sorry but it works EXACTLY like the teacher says. Sounds like you aren't using the search link from the SC430 forum menu, or are not clicking to search only in the SC430 forum from advanced search (my #4 in post above).

Post some screen shots of the search box when you've got it populated and ready to run and can look at it and tell you what you're doing wrong.

Or you can compare your search screen to mine, looking for 'intake install' in thread titles in the SC430 forum

Threads are out there like this one found with the search above that has many pics in it

Glad to, but I am running Windows, not a good system like Linux....I see no way to get and move screenshots about. When I try to use a key that says "print screen" it tells me I have to download "DropBox" ANOTHER program. I have more crap on this computer than I need now, most of it invading my privacy and I wont add more. I will bet I can figure it out and post a picture of it for the next guy on this forum and not on UTube.

I'm using Windows as well and used it for that screen shot above Just use a tool that is on 95% likely to already be on your PC, comes with windows.

Type 'snipping' in the bottom left box and open snipping tool to take the screen grab, then upload it. you don't need to add any more software, it's there natively.

Or if you want to bypass that, just compare your search to the one I posted and tell me what's different, especially looking at the search in forum(s) selection.
