When I press the break hard I can feel the gearshift move forward a little bit. Does this mean I need motor mounts? Its not a full stop either just hard breaking in traffic.

The gear shift is electronic. There is no mechanical connection between the two.
When you press the brake and feel the gear shifter move, are you driving or sitting still at the time?
Any chance that you are unconsciously pulling your shoulder/arm back while pressing the brake with your foot/leg? If so, that could feel like the shift **** is moving.
There is for my 2002, and the boot cover is torn as well. I had to get some tape to cover the whole thing so no exhaust can get into my cabin.
Lift the car and inspect the shift lever rod.
