Default Breaking

When I press the break hard I can feel the gearshift move forward a little bit. Does this mean I need motor mounts? Its not a full stop either just hard breaking in traffic.

The gear shift is electronic. There is no mechanical connection between the two.

A couple of questions:
  • When you press the brake and feel the gear shifter move, are you driving or sitting still at the time?
  • Any chance that you are unconsciously pulling your shoulder/arm back while pressing the brake with your foot/leg? If so, that could feel like the shift **** is moving.

There is a metal rod going from the shifter to the transmission, no?

That has never been my understanding.

There is for my 2002, and the boot cover is torn as well. I had to get some tape to cover the whole thing so no exhaust can get into my cabin.
Lift the car and inspect the shift lever rod.

I had to look it up this if or a 2010 SC430, the LS shares many of the same components.

It's normal to have some movement.

Wow that makes perfect sense! Thanks for pointing that out. I thought I had front end damage that was not reported.
