Hi all, my 2001 SC starts 1st time every time. It's driven once a week even in winter when it's not raining. For the first half hour it runs real smooth. After that it runs pretty rough when idling. When driving no problem. I don't think it's the engine mounts but possibly a spark plug once it gets hot. Your thoughts or experience in the matter would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank You.......Chris....From OZ.
Not likely engine mounts. The fact that you notice it after the engine warms up is an indicator.
Although I personally don't own the Toyota Techstream diagnostic computer that gives you dealership capabilities, I "strongly " recommend it if you can stomach the hassle of getting it to work.
With that said, I have to ask if you have run a diagnostic scan?
If not, usually your local auto parts store has one you can use for free.
Im going to make an unusual recommendation. Send your oil out for professional analysis. Its a great snap shot of oil and engine health.
Also, the usual of course. Air filter, fuel injector cleaner. You should be running a can through each oil change. I use Seafoam. Not going to debate chemicals either.🤣
Check spark plug wires and coils. Basically a tune up. Best I got right now. Good luck.
Oh. And if you have 50-100k miles I also recommend you change the PCV Valve at a minimum and all vacuum lines if you are reaching "high mileage". Just little issues here and there add up to weirdness.
