No, that is an artifact, its the light that makes the lower body in the shadow look darker. The wood is the same intensity top to bottom. I dont even think its the same kind of wood. It is a yellow-blond. The rest of the wood in the car is red

You are correct. They are different wood. The shift **** is a solid piece of wood and the rest of your car is just veneer wood on plastic molding body. The shift **** does look lighter on top because the lighting effect. Park your car in the garage, you will see the **** looks darker. Of course, it’s still lighter than the rest.
Yes, it is lighter. But if thats the way it is supposed to be, that is fine. I thought it might have been changed by a PO. They should have at least dyed it to match...unless that was intentional and some designer just thought it looked better. I think I will look for a spare, so I dont screw up this one, and see if it can be dyed to match.
I wont have to dye one! I found one on EBay that is the right color and right wood~!!
I hope you’re right because the picture on the web might not be true color. Most of us here who own the SC with red wood interior have same complain that the shift **** does not match with the rest of the wood.
Is the shift **** supposed to be a different color to go with each of the different wood veneer colors? Or, did the shift **** come in one color only, regardless of veneer color?
My 2006 SC430 shift **** looks the same. I have considered swapping it out with one I saw on Etsy that better matches the color and grain. Does anyone know the thread size?
