Spoke with the son today and he said his check engine light came on along with his VSC and VSC light on dash lights. This is on his 2005 SC 430. So I am think CO2 sensor? Would a CO2 sensor trip the VSC and VSC light on dash light as well as the check engine light? He has not plugged in his Techstream laptop yet to check for codes.
Not sure what a CO2 sensor is. ( I am but it does not apply to a car) Do you mean an O2 sensor. If so, yes that will turn on the check engine light and the VSC at times.
No problem. I was not sure if the 02 sensor (thanks iolmaster yes 02 censor) would trip them both. Will have him hook up Techstream laptop this weekend and check for codes.
trip the VSC and VSC light on dash light as well as the check engine light?
The VSC light comes on anytime your check engine light comes on. Lexus does this to make the dash lights more obvious. The VSC is probably not related to your issue.
If your son doesn't want to hook up techstream he can go to Autozone or Oreilley's and get a generic code. Usually that is enough to diagnose a Check Engine Light.
It could be an O2 sensor, but I doubt it. It might be something as simple as a loose gas cap
5 year ago or so, had all four lights come on and code thrown was "P0051", which believe is O2 sensor, right front. Being 140 miles from Lexus - continue to drive it with 4 lights on. When we ran the code reader, lights went off for a couple short trips, however, came back again.
