Default Front Plate Bracket Installation

Hi All,
Newly purchased 06 SC430 will require the addition of a front license bracket/plate per Massachusetts regulation. I see the starter dimples on the front bumper where I will need to attach the front plate bracket with the screws provided. My question is do I need to drill starter holes first using the dimples as a guide and if so what size drill bit?

Thank you for any assistance you can provide,

Tom

Thanks for the info DD. As the videos shows, Lexus dimples the front grill/bumper to show where to use the self-tapping screws. No drilling required!

Best,

Tom

I just had my crappy aftermarket front bumper replaced with a nice Lexus bumper. I have not installed a front license plate and have never been pulled over. I don't want to put holes in the new bumper.

I am moving to a state (MS) in July that does not require a front license plate. Driving from VT to coastal MS, we're taking 3 days to make the trip. However, I don't want to get pulled over during the trip so I was thinking of zip tying the front plate on grille. I can remove it overnight so someone doesn't steal it and put new zips on in the am.

As an alternative, does anyone know of a bracket that I can buy that would clamp on the grille, etc.?

Am I just being paranoid about the trip without the front license plate?

IMHO, once you leave VT, no cop will know or care…if they actually said something, I would show them the plate and tell them the true story.

Agree. No one will care. And if you do zip tie a plate on the grill, I doubt anyone would steal it at night. What for? Heck, they could steal most all the plates in the parking lot with a screwdriver.

I don't think this is a good idea. It could block a significant amount of airflow to your cooling system.

If you were to mount it on the bumper with double sided tape or velcro, you would not risk the overheat.

But I agree, most likely no one will care

Velcro or double sided tape is the best solution. They helps me out in many applications.

Or you could just place it on your dash board until you're gone.
