Default Trunk Rattle (Not from 808's)

I'm getting an annoying rattle or kind of squeaking sound going over uneven roads when the top is up. It is not present when the top is down. It's definitely coming from the back. I thought someone mentioned about some kind of adjustment that cleared up their rattle. I looked with the top halfway but could not find anything to adjust. Any suggestions? I did treat my rubber seals with shinetsu, which is fantastic stuff to restore rubber molding. Did not help with this rattle.

One of our member reported that his back rattle turned out to be a loose wheel lug key.

I will double-check the tools don't think it's coming from this. When I say trunk it may actually be near the back window vs the trunk itself.

Can you give us more details? Any chance you can take a buddy on a drive and have them listen for the noise as you drive?

I recently experienced the same squeaking problem. I thought it might be my poly sway bar bushings but I pulled up the rear seat bottom and thoroughly cleaned and conditioned it before reinstalling. I think it was squeaking where it was touching the center console. Worth a try.

Yeah, I need to take a friend on a drive to see where it's coming from. It's somewhat new. Like the last few months. I swear it's not there with the top down. And I mean you can normally hear it driving slow or fast over uneven roads. I tried to duplicate the sound with the top down and I cannot hear it at all. Even in very a quiet atmosphere with the radio off. I'll try the rear seat idea.

I did double check the tools. It's definitely coming from the back. It sounds like like it's coming from the rear window area but as we all know it's difficult to pinpoint when driving.

I know you said you checked the tools...did you remove the jack?
if so, it will make noise IF, it is not extended in its holder.
hope I am making sense...can you move the jack when it is in its holder?
if so, extend it just a little or until it is tight in the holder.

Yes, jack is extended to lock in place. I did go through the obvious things pretty thoroughly that's why I was looking for some kind of adjustment bump stops or anything that would not normally be seen. When stopping the roof halfway I do not see anything like this. Also, I would think I would be able to hear it with the top down if persistent. To me, it sounds like the rear deck lid area. Ugh, so annoying try to find these things.

If you open the roof halfway until the rear shelf lifts up there is a round one and a half inch adjustable **** in the middle that you can move up or down. Turn it up a couple of turns and see if that works. Stopped the rattle I had.
Cheers

After spending way too much time yesterday removing the rear seat, removing the spare/jack tray, trunk liner panels and several test drives in search for a mysterious rattle, I decided to try CL. I found this thread and tried the rear shelf **** adjustment. It worked!! I feel kinda dumb for all my unnecessary work but it's fixed. Gotta love ClubLexus.
