Smile Dash Rattle Fix Found - Glovebox Lid

For all the peeps that complain about the Dash Rattles.....
I for one came across an annoying Rattle and ORIGINALLY thought it was the DashBoard.

Later to find out...it was the GloveBox Lid. I had it replaced (warranty) and voila!!! NO MORE RATTLES.....

Not sure if anyone else has encountered this ......in their Lexus Gs ventures.....

Ty

P.S. ...I'm back rolling on my 20's........hehehe only been down for 1 week.

yeah....it was a matter of process of elimination.
1st i thought it was my center speaker.....then it was somewhere inside my dash.....and tapping my dash...and listening....as i was driving at the same time.....

it came down to the glovebox lid.....when I open the lid....the rattle stopped. the minute I closed the lid...the rattle would start up again.....

then with the lip closed i would hold the lid in pressing it firmly down closed position...the rattle would go away...

Then when i took my hands off the lid (glove box closed) the rattle would start again....

It's something with the latch inside the lid. The dealer replaced the Lid or mechanisim inside the lid......

Rattle gone.

alot of driving one handed....(stupid stuff)and gently pounding the dash and stuff....

Hope that helps....

When i told my friend at the dealer ...he says he has replaced the lids before...for same reason...

i have the glovebox rattle too. but that's only one of the rattles. There are other dash rattles.

like some people did before, I was gonna put some felt inside the latch to prevent the plastic on plastic banging.

I just don't see what's different about a new glovebox door; it will rattle again eventually.

interesting...i never thought about the felt part. If it starts to rattle again....the Felt will be the option....

When that day happens...."DunnoJack" ur gonna have to show/tell me how...

Thanks RC, I'm going to check that out since I have started to experience some rattling in the dash.
