The metal lip in the center of the trunk area has a definate upward angle in the center where the weather strip meets the trunk lid. I do not see any rubbing etc. that you might expect if something was catching on the lip while either raising oe lowering the top. So, gotta ask. Is this normal? Thanks.
OK. Yesterday was Friday so we all had better things to do but this is an easy one. Can someone open up their trunk lid and see if their front seal dips "up" towards the middle so I can quit worrying about it? Thanks.
No, mine does not. Something has come loose on yours, I suspect.
Dang. I was hoping that it was that way due to some kind of clearance issue that needed to be addressed. Well, Thank you Sir for taking the time. I will have to do some more investigating to see what caused the damage.
Checked mine this morning. I can confirm yours is not the same as mine, which is a flat plane. Mine, in the center area you exposed with your thumb, looks identical to the right side, or passenger side, of the picture where the two metal plates come together to form an edge or flat plane. In addition, the weather seal was seated in a bed of adhesive on the metal’s flat edge.
mine was like yours when I got the car. I bent it back down and use Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive (3M) just to make sure I get no rain water into the trunk.
