No video. Are the door locks working properly? Key fob battery is good? How about the button inside the vehicle, this working properly?

As I remember from a previous thread about the same, more than likely it is one of the bolts holding the latch in place has gotten loose. I forget who posted the subject before, but if memory serves me well, they fixed it by either tightening the bolts or replacing the bolts or something like that. (Another possibility is that the mounting hole got wallered out and it had to be replaced.)

When you press the button to open the trunk, do you hear anything happening inside to indicate that the motion is still working?

Yes I hear a switch like sound. I opened the trunk and when I push the remote trunk opener the rod to open the trunk latch (silver rod in photo)does not open

All those metal shavings in your picture mean something. Chances are it does not mean something good.

Take off the plastic lip cover on the flat edge of your trunk. It has ridges on it and the Lexus logo. It just pulls off. See if the makes the trunk work any better.

If so (or not) let us know.

I believe you can manually release the trunk via the storage box cable loop.

Thanks for all your efforts.
this may be of further help in accessing the situation. The problem started with difficulty opening the trunk but if I pushed down on trunk while pushing the remote trunk button it would open.

Does the gap between your trunk and the body of your car line up right?

It's an old saying but I don't know its origins. It is usually used among mechanical types (MEs or mechanics). It very well could be a southern thing though.

Trunk and body line up. Bolts are all tight. Remote battery new. Clicks when both key and car trunk buttons are pushed. Plastic cover removed and manually opened lock. Then with lock opened pushed remote button and level opens wide enough to open lock if it was locked,so that mechanism works. However when trunk lock is in locked position the mechanism does push the lever wide enough or strong enough l to open lock.

@billyv Does your convertible top work properly?

The trunk lock on the sc is amazing, it does all kinds of things. It goes down and up.

The UP feature is used for the convertible opening/closing procedure.

I think the rod that causes your latch to go "up" into place is not right. It is the white rod that is pointing to the 12 O' Clock position in this picture.

The reason I think this is because if it was just a "height" issue, taking off the plastic cover would have resolved it. Also, the gaps on your car would be off.

What I think is the nuts that hold the rod in, need to be adjusted.

Pretty easy. Take off the top plastic cap. Unscrew a couple of 10 mm bolts that have "D" rings on them and pull off the plastic retainer clips. That will reveal the two wire cables the remote and emergency release uses, along with the white rod assembly.

Look for anything loose or out of place.
