Default Replace All Speakers - Will This Work?

My wife has a 2002 SC430. Great car, lousy speakers. I did the speaker repair on the front 6x9s and that improved the sound, but the sound is still not good. I'm thinking that it might make sense to put in replacements, keeping the 8 ohm impedance. Would this setup from parts-express work? Any other thoughts? I realize that for the 6.5" I would need to buy adapters to fit the 6x9" opening.

I'm not looking for audiophile sound, just something as good as $20 headphones.

All of the speakers are 8 ohm impedance accept the subwoofer which is 16 ohms. Other members have had good luck using this product: https://www.dcgold.com/index.php. Now that the search tool is working again you should do a search on the topic.

Are you sure that some of the other speakers haven't gone bad also? There's a good chance that some of the other ones are the causing the remaining bad sound.

You might be right. The ones in the back definitely sound a bit distorted when I move the balance and fader. What other ones in the front would likely be the culprits? When I tried to put my ear up to each it was difficult to hear which might be my problem.

The rear (as you mentioned) and the subwoofer. I don't remember ever seeing anyone whose tweeters went bad.

I replaced the subwoofer and the 2 door 6x9s (converted to 6.5 round) with significantly better quality (but still relatively inexpensive) speakers. As long as you stay with same ohm speakers you will be fine. Even mid priced replacements (Polk, Pioneer/Sony/etc) will be much better quality drivers than the shockingly cheaply made stock ML speakers. I'd suggest replacing with speakers that have rubber/buytl coated surrounds on the cone rather than cheap open foam surrounds (like the ML speakers have) that rapidly degrade/disintegrate with time and temp extremes.

The Lexus radio in our 08 gave poor sound in general.

installed a pioneer avh4200 nex and a beatsonic and really woke up the speakers. The factory radio head I think compresses the musics dynamic range.

Stops the interior panels and parts in them from rattling?

lots of cars did/do the same thing.

the pioneer by itself helped but the “restorer” function brought back the dynamic range.

amp and speakers were actually pretty good in my low mile car.

Radio head sucked.
