Default nakamichi speakers

I have a 97 SC 400 with Nak system. When I move the fade to the back speakers, they both sound muffled. When I move the balance to one side or the other, they still sound muffled and exactly the same. Are the Nak speakers just crappy, or are they both blown? When I move the balance and fade to the front speakers, they sound good. When I move the balance and fade to all four speakers equally, the sound is great. I'm guessing that is because of the front speakers with the separate tweeters overpowering the muffled speaker sound in the back. I'm wondering if upgrading the back speakers would make the sound even better, whether or not they are blown.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Yes, your speakers are starting to go out. I had to replace the ones in my LS400 as they started to sound like yours and believe me, the new aftermarket ones sound much better.

Thanks for the information. I was just doing a search in the forums and found a bunch of other information too. I should have started there. What kind of after market speakers did you get?
