Default Clicking noise behind dash - Air Mix Servo?

Hello guys,

I started to hear an intermittent sound behind the dash that sounds like a disc changer changing CDs. I did some research on CL and think it is related to the Air Mix Servo. I would like to repair it or disable it, if the repair is very complicated. Do you think this is the problem and can you point me in the right direction to get it repaired?

Thank you very much for your help in advance,

Moerbeck

I had the same issue with my 03 and it was the servo motor. There are 3 or 4 of them so you need to determine which one is making the noise or in my case I repaired all of them.
What happens is after a while they get a little dirt in them and need to be cleaned. You actually take them apart and clean them but before you do there is an actuator arm and you need to mark where it is before taking the servo apart.
Or you can just buy new ones and replace it.
Not to hard to do if you like laying on your back under the dash. After i did mine no more noise behind the dash.
Good Luck

This is exactly what has been happening with my wife's SC for the past year or so, it almost sounds like a small mouse in the dash.

I did this repair on my 03 ES300. This video was the best help I found. Is for a GS but it gives the idea of what you're trying to do. I spent $3 at Walmart for dialectic grease. that was the only expense.

Default Thanks

Just wanted to say thank you to the Club Lexus Forum. My '01 GS300 has clicking noise when switching from fresh air to recirc air. I found enough info on this forum to fix the issue. This is a very helpful forum. I have used what I learned on CL many times to fix issues on my car. Yes my GS300 is old, but to this day it is still just as quiet, and rides as smooth as it did when I bought it. And, it has been very reliable mechanically. It has 360,000 miles on it.

Great info. My '07 has been doing a bit of this.

Something to do when the weather warms up!

Thanks for your post!!. Looks like that same pesky servo in my SC needs to be cleaned. Will try that first, as it seems to be functioning fine with the different modes but just noisy.

Thanks Again

Joe
