Default SC nav in evening

I have searched through the FAQs but couldn't get my answer, so just post a quick question here and hope this is not repeating

okay, on my GS430, the navigation screen would turn to night mode when it's evening, so that during the evening, the nav wouldn't be too bright for your eyes. I am wondering if SC430 has the same option, or no? It is way too bright for me to use the nav during evening, or maybe they design it that way ?

thx for the time.

You may have your instrument light rehostat turned to full bright. Turn the **** down to something less than full bright.

Default And that's not all

Not only does the NAV system have a night mode, it changes to that mode when it feels that ambient conditions are suitable and that it would be in your best interests for the shift to happen.

Way cool.

yes, the SC430 Nav has a night mode. The screen reverses and is white/colors on a black background, versus a black/colors on a white background. Never a problem..
hm.. our SC430 has never switched to night mode since the day we bought it. do you know where I Can manually configure the day/night mode?

Default Simple?

Hit the Display button (3rd or 4th one from left) and you can manually change to day or night mode, plus make brightness settings.

Thumbs up

Both are correct. Use the Display Button to adjust contrast and brightness (last page of 2003 Navigation System Owners Manual), but if the light panel control is set fully to the right it stays only in Day Mode.

Also, you can change map colors for both day and night mode using the Setup Button (p. 87 of same manual).

This navigation system is fantastic. So much better than BMW or Mercedes. And if you have ever used the Magellan or Garmin systems you'll never complain about the accuracy of the information on this system.

Cool

Yes, of course. I was just trying to make it understandable for those who don't speak Californian...in which by the way the grammatically correct phrasing is "way too cool dude" - pronounced dooooooooood.

Default Translation

"Way cool" = "Very cool" if you are under 20.

I'm just trying to stay plugged in, tuned in, turned on and yet I seem to have dropped out.

Bummer!
