Default Nav not turning to Dark Mode?

On my 2006 IS350 the Nav (Non ML) does not turn dark when its night out. I have seen other ISx50's with the nav colors going dark at night.

My nav stays bright all the time no matter what..

Maybe I need an updated nav disk? I figured this should be standard from the first version throughout present.

Is there a setting I am missing out on?

I just went out there and tested. The **** was on max brightness, but when turning the **** the screen and dash just dimmed, no change to the nav colors except for dimming.

I have looked through all the nav options, Im very good at figuring stuff out, but this has me stumped.

The display settings are in the middle for both the Contrast and Brightness

What about your headlights? Are they on? If you turn on your headlamps or AUTO, it should activate night mode.

If your headlamp switch is still in the off position, your dash will dim, but your navi will still be in day mode.

At night, press "DISP" and you should see a button on screen for "Day Mode". Press the button, and the nav screen will switch to night mode. Note that you will NOT see this option during the day time.

what exactly is dark mode? does the screen dim slightly at night? or is when the **** is turned up all the way just before it clicks to the max? And the NAV map backround is black?

the screen will stay in day mode even if your lights are on because there is too much ambient daylight. try it in a dark area when your lights are on and it should switch to night mode automatically. I noticed this when my lights were on and every now and then when i drive under an overpass the screen and gauges dim.

Figured it out.

At night, if the Dash Dimmer is on Max Brightness, there is no day mode in the display setting on the screen. when I took the max brightness off and then hit display I say the day mode button was enabled.

Thanks for all who gave input!
