Hi, purchased for my Wife Lesley a (August 2001) Silver exterior & Black interior sc430 with 158,000 kilometers, 100,000 miles.
Flew with my Son from Adelaide S.A. to Melbourne Victoria to buy it, & drove back the same day (500 miles). None for sale in my State.
Average speed 65-70 miles P.H. & averaged 28 MPG (Imperial). Approx 8 hour drive & no hassles. We've had the car for a month now & we both like it very much.
I'm more into Classic cars, as I have a 1960 Ford Thunderbird fully restored, & a 1979 Cadillac Eldorado in a very good condition.
My Wife is 63 y.o.a. & I am 70.
We both thank you for accepting us in the Club.
Thank you for the warm welcome Dave. I'm sure we'll both enjoy the car especially in 2 to 3 months from now, as we're in the last month of winter. Being in South Australia we don't get any snow, therefore we can drive the car whenever, but to thoroughly appreciate in a couple of months time.
Welcome to CL Lesly1. This is the best owners forum there is for any car make/model I have heard of. You will benefit a lot from the advice here and hopefully you'll contribute as well. From time to time we hear of an Aussie contributor on CL but I think he is from further north than you. My parents used to go to Victor Harbor often in the past but no more.
Thanks for the welcome OBP. I'll be going to Victor Harbor in September, for a Classic Car & Dance Show with my '60 Ford Thunderbird.
We live in Adelaide which is 50 miles from Victor. Are you originally from S.A.?
Never lived in SA Chris. Blew through Adelaide once on R and R after spending some time in the desert at Woomera. Military stuff. I still have a nice framed map of the Lake Hart firing range above my mantelpiece here in northern NJ. Spent some time at RAAF Fairbairn on the East coast. Always liked Aussie hospitality. Just to stay on topic, think the other Aussie member here on CL uses the name Townsville. Guess that means Queensland?
Hi OBP, I served for 2 years in the Military from '68-'70. ( NATIONAL SERVICE.) I was in R.A.E.M.E. ( Royal Australian Electrical & Mechanical Engineers.)
When were you in Australia last? Last time I was in the States was in 2007, looking for a '58 Corvette. Couldn't find what I wanted.
Hello Chris & All, I just got a 2009 SC430 Pebble Beach Edition - Metallic Silver. It is stunning. I had an '08 SC430 but was involved in an accident and it was totaled. Such a shame; it was a beauty w/only 35K miles. Some 21-year old ran a red light and WHAM! Fortunately, my husband & I survived.

Still, sounds like the insurance company paid for a very nice upgrade with the PB?
Yes, they gave us a very fair settlement on the car. Can't say the same about the personal injuries tho'. Won't be signing that release for a long time to come.

Hi Pennie, sorry to here about the accident. As long as you & your husband are O.K. that's the main thing.
Hopefully, the personal injuries will heal in the very near future. Even though it's still winter here in OZ,
it's & sunny 20C (68F) so going for a spin in the SC. We're 15 minutes from the coast, so I think an ice-cream
would be nice strolling along the jetty.
