Default Introducing my new ride

Hey folks, haven't been around here much the past few years.... Been busy with work, other half, family, etc. As some of you might know, I picked up a mint, low-mileage 1st generation Q45 last May that I absolutely love, and at the same time did a complete restoration project on my gold 92 SC400 that I've had since 19 yrs old....

.... Which included a whole new paint job, wheels, leather seating, PPE exhaust headers and much more.

Now that I'm living in the sunbelt, I figured now is the time to finally get a convertible. We all live once, yknow....

Very nice
Welcome to this crazy (for mods) SC430 club.
Looks like your Mass location needs to be updated. Unless that tree grows in way southern Mass.

Thanks, guys. Great to be back. The only issue I have is, the plastic covers behind the rear seats, one of the small triangular ones on the passenger side is either missing, or not deploying at all, and you can look down and see all the mechanicals in there.... Anyone have any info about this?

That pad is the one that swivels out to allow the package tray to move and make room for the top mechanism hinges to move and then it swivels back. If its missing there may have been an issue with the motor that controls it When you put the top up or down does the other side swivel out. Look and see if the pad that is missing is just being held in place and can not move or is it gone altogether.

I stayed outside of the car and had my gf put the top up, and yeah, the piece is gone altogether...

I would imagine the motor that pivots it out works, when the last guy had the top worked on, the shop probably forgot to replace it.

The other side swivels out like normal, they each have a motor independent of one another, right?

I would verify that the motor that swivels it out is functioning. I would look at the side that does swivel and see if you can see it when its in the vertical position and make sure that there is no bracket that the pad attached to. If there is a bracket then you might be missing that as well. I don't remember when my top goes down or up if the pad attached to a bracket. If it does then you might be missing that as well.

I would not assume that who ever worked on the car forgot to put it back . The top is a very complicated device and most shops wont touch them . Its usually a dealer job. They would not forget to install the pad its to obvious.

Looks like I'll have to hit up a dealer sometime and have it checked, I will do that at my leisure as it does not affect the car in any way, and the top still functions without it. Damn shame tho. The car was priced way below the others I've seen at least.
