Convenient Battery-Charging System Tester
I have purchased a cigarette lighter device that identifies the performance of the battery/alternator. This is basically done through the detection of the volt/amp going through the system via the cigarette lighter.
The traditional way is to take your multi meter and measure the voltage going across the battery. With 3 parameters, you can detect if you have a good working alternator and battery. Pretty much what they do in the BM Auto store.
If this device can help us forecast what’s going on with our battery and charging system, then it is well worth keeping it in the glove compartment. For less than $10, this device can save you some real headache, downtime, being stranded, etc., not to mention some $$.
See picture below:
Now… my problem is I do not have power to my cigarette lighter. I have checked the fuses, all good. Am scratching my head on how to debug. I have not used my multi-meter to see if either of the Plus and Minus are fully connected on the wiring. So for you who have debugged this no power issue, please share your findings.

There may be a fuse in the part of the new device that you got that is replaceable. See if you can unthread the front of the part that goes into the cigarette receptacle. Did you try the device in another car. You can also try and plug the device into your middle console 12 volt receptacle.
.
The key has to be on I am sure you know.
