Default Beatsonic/Metra

Has anyone used the Beatsonic MVA - 11FB and Metra TYTO01 to install a Double DIN?

I know I will lose my Nav sounds, but I don't care because I rarely use Nav, and my aftermarket head unit has Nav anyway.

I'm more interested in how well the dash kit fits and if the Metra works correctly.

I put in a Naviks system with a media player, and it didn't fit my needs so I am going to take it all out and replace it with the head unit from my old car.

Thanks for any help or suggestions

(I replied to your PM but you've exceeded your space.)

Here's what I sent you:

It works perfectly.

The face plate is black and blends in real well with my Alpine unit.

Now when I want to close the door over the stereo I have to pull it down and to open it lift it by hand.

Is that because the power is somehow disabled to the door when you use the metra kit, or does it just get hung up and not fit over?

Thanks for the reply!

I guess the power to the cover/door went with the old radio.

In my case the door does close (by hand) over the Alpine radio.

So let me make sure this is correct, by upgrading to the BeatSonic stereo you lose the steering wheel controls (Vol Up (but Volume down still functions according to another thread), Mode select, Track Navigation), the Navigation Voice prompts, and the push button door feature? Do you get iPod input, Aux input, or Bluetooth with it?

But is your Alpine Head Unit a BeatSonic MVA product or a different product all together?

UPDATE: As Epc23 said in this thread (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ml#post8021010) he used a Kenwood DDX790. Can you choose which Head Unit BeatSonic sends you? I'm just slightly confused. Sorry.
--> Ohh so no headunit is included, it's just the wiring interface adapter, right? Then you have to purchase your own headunit. I think I understand now. Sorry been a long day. Sounds like quite an expensive project with varied results depending on the headunit chosen (or installation problems).

I installed the BeatSonic in my 02. It is expensive, but it will definitely modernize your sound system. I went with a Pioneer system. I also installed a XM system...kind of a waste of money. I use the Pandora app on the radio w/ my iPhone. It comes with all hook-ups for iPhone, (charges etc...), bluetooth and also has space for a backup camera, which I don't have installed. Nav still works just like before...except I can watch a DVD on the screen (and also the screen for the radio)...but I have not used this function, and probably won't. For me, it was worth the money spent.

If you get the apps version of pioneer, there is no need for xm. I now have Aha radio in my SC430 and use Bluetooth in my odyssey to get it and my camry gets I heart radio, which is similar to Aha radio but better. Pioneer also has pandora. How XM will stay in business is beyond me. In my case I want music, talk radio, and comedy- I get a much wider selection than with XM and will never pay another cent to them.

My SC is currently in the shop to get an upgraded camera that will measure distance behind the car and can also be turned on while driving via the pioneer head unit. I also asked the installer to check out the beatsonic (steering wheel control) to figure out if there is a way to use seek to go to the next song or back. Currently it acts as a fader, although the volume works great. Anyone have any idea how to get beatsonic to work correctly, instead of being a fader control?

I disconnected the XM several months ago. The Pandora words so much better. With the app on the radio, and also on the phone you can either pay the annual fee which is not very much or use it free. The Pandora works so much better too (in Atlanta).
